This boat has been in the planning stage for quite a while and we decided the time was right for an entirely new category. There have been many boats in the 19-21’ range that looked like a flats boat but the weight, draft and other issues kept them from being able to perform as a real skiff. Our designs, materials and technology were able to change that in the new Islamorada 21. This is a real, shallow water poling skiff that will do the same missions as our 12 degree Islamorada 18. It is a scaled up version of the 18 that has the same stealth capability, the same draft (or it is slightly shallower with a 115 engine) but the additional length, width and height will allow more passengers, an even better dry ride in very rough conditions and as much speed as needed. This includes the new, patented hull design with massive high-volume built-in spray rails, a staggered split chine below the waterline for silent poling and a radius transom. No sponsons.

Our designs, materials and technology were able to change that in the new Islamorada 21. This is a real, shallow water poling skiff that will do the same missions as our 12 degree Islamorada 18. It is a scaled up version of the 18 that has the same stealth capability, the same draft (or it is slightly shallower with a 115 engine) but the additional length, width and height will allow more passengers, an even better dry ride in very rough conditions and as much speed as needed. The skiff has a huge livewell in the aft compartment that is also great dry storage if the livewell is not needed. The rod storage is an expanded version of the 18 and carries a large quantity of fly, spin or conventional rods with very easy access. A 36 volt trolling motor will allow many types of fishing from mangrove shorelines, deeper water tarpon fishing to offshore weed lines for dolphin and pelagics. The anchor feature will allow holding on deepwater wrecks and bringing up multiple species to work on fly tackle or conventional. Some of the best fly fishing for tarpon happens on windy days and this skiff will do it extremely well because of the quiet hull design and ability to anchor well in bigger conditions.
The standard engine is a Mercury 115 Pro XS that weighs 359 lbs, the same as most 90 HP engines and will run the skiff over 50 mph. We will install virtually any other engine to allow extremely fast speeds if needed.
This skiff will give guides and anglers great flexibility because it can be a hard core fly fishing skiff with a guide and one client on one day and the next day it can carry a guide and 4 passengers with a well blacked out with live bait. The guys with a family that loves to fish can now have a skiff big enough for that and still go all of the places our 18’ skiffs can fish.
We expect this will be a very useful boat for yachts because of the large number of tasks it will do very well. It will also be very easy to tow with almost any vehicle and launch just like the 18’. The skiff can be rigged anyway you need and the possibilities are almost endless. Come run and pole a skiff in a class that did not exist until now.
