“it’s magic”: LM18 with The low-water pickup System by Mac Jank of ZCC

If you need a skiff that runs extremely shallow water and will jump up in just as shallow, this system is the answer. We have been designing and building the shallowest floating skiffs for many years and after years of research and testing we have the best system to allow a skiff to do things we could not imagine a few years ago with the help of Mac Jank at Zephyr Cove Customs.

Keeping the engine from overheating due to a lack of sufficient water pressure has always been a problem. The cure to this problem requires a separate water pickup that is mounted on the transom. A hose connects the water pickup to the engine and the old water intakes on the lower unit are blocked off. This allows the engine to be raised very high on the transom with a jackplate. The water pressure is much better than the intakes on the side of the lower unit and the engine can be raised as high as possible on the jackplate.
As long as the prop has one blade reaching the water, the skiff can now run MUCH higher than the factory water intakes will allow. The only issues needed to make the system perfect is a very light skiff with a great hull design. We have videos that show exactly how this system works or come see it working on one of our skiffs.

Check out our Laguna Madre which comes standard with a tunnel, jack plate, cavitation plate and taller poling platform. You can get in touch with Mac Jank at Zephyr Cove Customs to add his Low Water Pickup System.
