After the "big three" tarpon fly tournaments in May and June, the locals wanted a chance to compete, so the Poor Boys Tarpon Fly Tournament was born. The tournament was made to be accessible to anyone who wanted to prove their skill and competence. It’s a community focused event with a rich history & a simple format. In the years since his passing, it has also become a memorial to the late Capt. Billy Knowles— Fourth-generation Keys guide, backcountry legend, and the soul of Islamorada.
